Hello! I’m Zachary T. King.

I’m a Ph.D. candidate in sociology (with an Interdepartmental Ph.D. Emphasis in Environment and Society) at the University of California in Santa Barbara, currently open to faculty positions in sociology and environmental science departments.

My research and teaching center on the social construction of imagined and material futures, demonstrated through the focused subjects of social movements, social ecology, climate change, and development studies.

Former students are more than welcome to contact me for career advice or letters of recommendation.

In addition to my teaching and research, I enjoy film, books (mostly science fiction), live music, and getting to know my city in new ways.
